What is a Maker to do when they’ve removed a mechanical precision altimeter from their airplane when upgraded to a modern glass cockpit?
Sell the altimeter of course.
Or they could design and 3D print a desktop display case for it!
This was designed using Fusion 360 and then an 18 hour long print on a Lulzbot TAZ printer.
The finish is a faux soapstone appearance created by layering a mist of dark gray and light gray over a gloss black base. There are multiple coats of clear gloss which allow for 1000 and 1500 grit sanding prior to buff and polish.
